SEWING, HOME SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT

My first sewing experience was making a skirt for a 4-H Fair.  My mother patiently showed me how to fold the material, how to position and pin the pattern, how to cut the material and sew up the seams on the sewing machine.  I had to hem my project by hand.  And in my young hands, as patient as my mother was, it wasn’t a pretty job.

Even though I only received a red ribbon on the project, I was inspired to continue sewing and went on to make many of the outfits that I wore.  Today I use those sewing skills to make my own window coverings, make Halloween costumes and hem up my daughter’s skirts.
