HOME MAINTENANCE SEASONAL (SPRING AND SUMMER) CHECKLIST
Here in South Florida, Spring and Summer Home Maintenance is just a
continual process and for the most part we end up using the general Home Maintenance
Checklist from SimplyChecklists.com.
But having spent much of my life in the upper
Midwest, I looked forward to the first signs of Spring and didn’t mind completing
the seasonal tasks that awaited me. Of course, the first thing off the list was
the return of the lounge chair to the back patio.
Plumbing:
Outdoor water systems operational and checked
Reinstall hoses
Check sprinkler system – sprinkler heads, timer, pump
Interior:
Dehumidifier inspected and serviced
Attic ventilation systems inspected
Reverse ceiling fans to blow cool air down
Clean out fireplace and make sure flue is closed tightly
Check smoke alarms (replace batteries) and fire extinguisher (pressure)
Check sump pump operation
Exterior:
Gutters inspected and cleaned
Window wells and storm drains cleaned
Storm windows removed or stored
Window screens installed
Check weather stripping on windows and doors
Weed and feed lawn, trees and shrubs
Inspect for winter weather damage (roof, siding, sidewalks, decking, etc.)
Stain and seal decking and fencing
Set up exterior furniture
Mulch beds
Plant annuals and vegetables
Septic tank serviced as per household size guidelines
