Even if you are not a sewer, sooner or later you’re going to have to sew on a button or repair a hem, sew (oh, I mean ‘so’), purchase a few necessities to complete those jobs.  Start with the basic black, white and beige threads, but add colors from the most prevalent colors in your closet.  Most sewing stores sell a small kit of sewing needles in most any size you would need.  And you might want to invest in a pair of scissors that you only use for sewing purposes – that way the scissors will stay sharp longer and you’ll be set when you want to upgrade to sewing for a hobby!
