What brings on more anxiety, delight and apprehension than purchasing
a new home. There are a number of items to consider, and this checklist was designed to
help you prepare and be informed. My husband and I have purchased seven homes
over our married lifetime. Along the way we became more familiar with the
questions we should ask, the information we should compile and the issues we
should investigate. I think we finally got it right. I know this because the
last time we shopped for a home I felt much more delight than anxiety or
apprehension.
Consider hiring a real estate professional in your search for a home
Check local magazines, newspapers and the web for homes for sale in your designated
area
Investigate insurance availability and costs for location and type of home
Investigate real estate tax rate for the purchase of home in particular city or county
Investigate mortgage availability and rates; ask the mortgage company for prequalification
Obtain list of closing costs from a real estate professional or title company
