TRAVELING BY COMMERCIAL CARRIERS CHECKLIST

Our General Traveling checklist is pretty extensive, but we’ve also added a few things in the following checklist that are specific to traveling by a commercial carrier such as an airline, train, bus or cruise ship.  With the special security and safety regulations in place, we feel the items on the Traveling by Commercial Carriers checklist will be helpful.  Each commercial carrier may have its own specific rules and regulations, which is why it is important to obtain this information before leaving on a trip.  The more you know, the easier it is to go.  So go get this checklist the next time you travel.

Check food cooler/container requirements (dry ice is not permitted on most airlines)
Check food and drink restrictions with airline or transportation authority
Contact all airports or transportation authority for banned items
Contact the commercial carrier to its rules and regulations
Measure and weigh luggage (if applicable)
Luggage locks (use airline approved locks)
Know carry-on restrictions
Headphones with 2 and 1 pin adapter
Call airline or transportation authority the day before travel for any security updates
Determine parking of personal vehicle at airport, train or bus station
Avoid the airport crowds: for early morning flights, drop off travelers at arrivals and have them walk to the departure area; for late evening arrivals, pick up at the departure area
Especially for men, place small personal carry-on items (wallets, keys, loose change, etc.) in a zip lock bag to go through security
